Some people choose the colour of their car based on personal style preferences, while some choose a colour that they think will be easy to keep clean. However, there’s now another factor to add to the equation when you’re making your decision – certain colours are less likely to be stolen.
A recent article from the eZonomics newsletter, produced by ING Group and available at ing.com/ezonomics, suggests that because the resale value of unusually coloured cars (pink for example) is less than that of cars in more popular colours, thieves may not be as eager to steal them. Good news if you want a car in a funky colour. On the other hand, if you want to sell your car a few years after buying it, opting for pink or purple might not be the smartest move. The best compromise is to go ahead and buy a brightly coloured car as long as you plan on keeping it for the long haul!
